Kash served multiple senior roles in government: most recently as the Chief of Staff to the Department of Defense (DoD), Deputy Assistant to the President on the National Security Counsel (NSC), and Deputy Director of National Intelligence in the Trump Administration.
At the NSC, Mr. Patel oversaw the execution of several of President Trump’s top priorities, including eliminating Al-Qa’ida and ISIS senior leadership, and safely repatriating dozens of American hostages.
Before joining the NSC, Mr. Patel served as the National Security Advisor and Senior Counsel for the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence (HPSCI), where he spearheaded the investigation into the Russian active measures campaign to influence the 2016 presidential election (Russia Gate). The investigation discovered numerous illegal surveillance measures undertaken by the Department of Justice and the Federal Bureau of Investigation to unlawfully spy on the Trump campaign. Concurrently, he led congressional oversight of sensitive programs for the IC and U.S. Special Operations Forces and worked to enact legislation to fully fund the multi-billion-dollar budgets supporting intelligence and counterterrorism operations worldwide.
Mr. Patel joined HPSCI following his tenure as a national security prosecutor at the Department of Justice (DOJ) under the Obama Administration, where he led investigations spanning multiple theaters of conflict and oversaw the successful prosecution of criminals aligned with Al-Qa’ida, ISIS, and other terror groups. This work necessitated Mr. Patel’s presence in locations across the globe, collaborating with host nation governments to successfully prosecute terrorists. He also served as the DOJ Liaison Officer to Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC), working with our nation’s most prestigious counterterrorism units (special forces) to conduct collaborative global targeting operations against high value objectives, in almost every theater of war.
Mr. Patel began his career in 2005 as a public defender, trying scores of complex cases in federal and state courts, ranging from murder to narco-trafficking, to complex financial crimes. These cases took place throughout the U.S., in over half a dozen countries, requiring Mr. Patel to conduct investigations and diplomatically engage with several foreign governments.
Since leaving government service, Kash has authored critically acclaimed books, most recently, “Government Gangsters,” which topped the charts in pre-sales and exposes government corruption and provided critical solutions to restore the agencies and departments mission of serving the American people.
Kash also authored 2 children’s books that received much critical acclaim, “Plot Against the King” series, selling over 110,000 copies.
Mr. Patel is the founder and president of The Kash Foundation, a 501(c)(3) that raises money for legal defense matters, education programs, tuition assistance, and financial assistance for our active-duty military and veterans.
Kash currently sits on the board of Trump Media Technology Group, which is the parent company for Truth Social, hosts Kash's Corner on Epoch TV, and is a Senior Advisor to President Trump. He also serves as the Senior Fellow for National Security and Intelligence at the Center for Renewing America, a think-tank where he dedicates his time to ridding the national security mission of corruption and politicization.
A native of New York, Mr. Patel graduated from the University of Richmond with a bachelor’s in criminal justice and history, received a juris doctor from law school in New York, and a Certificate in International Law from University College London Faculty of Laws in the United Kingdom.

This impressive product takes the reader thru the author's journey on how he witnessed and battled agents of the "Deep State ' (DS), what he did to win, and how the American People can defeat them for good. The first four parts of the book are his experiences in four government areas (ODIA, NSA, DOJ, and DOD). Part five is his observations and participation in the January 6th, 2020, Washington DC Capital riots.
Chapters four and five are intensely interesting in describing how "Russia Gate" was instigated and conducted. Unbeknownst to me, he and Trey Gowdy's investigation and their interaction with the House of Representatives is more than remarkable. The investigative process on their behalf probably saved the credibility of the American Government. The reader should now absorb this 2023 material set forth and determine if Kash Patel (KP) has any impact on the DS he alludes to in the text in his new position as Director of the FBI to reform the agency and eliminate the "Two Tier System of Justice."
More than half-way through the book the author and eyewitness, describes in a "nutshell" the incident and DS prosecution of General Michael Flynn. Here allegedly now proven, the entire Obama Administration (OA) unmasked and targeted Flynn, incoming National Security Advisor, over a legal phone call with his Russian counterpart resulting in wrongful prosecution. Here the OA politicized the incoming National Security Apparatus to upset the new administration.
The product is sturdy, well edited, easy on the eyes, and communicates very well in its five parts, three interesting addendums, documents, and reference material. There is no index nor photographs which is disappointing, but it has a section of cast of characters for easy reference. It is an easy read of 207 pages of argumentative descriptive text. The reader should be watching to determine if KP can make a difference in his present position. He needs to tread carefully for the DS will surely be on him continuously.
If you missed the national political situation in the United States over the past nine years, this would enormously assist you in your understanding of the events. He tells it like it is!

I used to wear 'rose-colored glasses' and considered myself a Democrat. Then, in the early 1990's. I read Behold A Pale Horse by William Cooper. My late husband had already read the book and warned me about reading it. He said it would change my perception of our government and the world. He actually didn't want me to read it, but, of course, I did. And he was right. Once you open Pandora's Box you can't put it back. Sadly, a lot of people don't want to know the 'truth' because they then become responsible for that knowledge.
I preface my review with the above because back then, we didn't have a name for the evil that had infected our government. It was They this and They that. People shook their heads, thought we were nuts, and ignored us.
Thanks to Kash, and other people like him, they have pulled back the curtain. And it ain't pretty. Are you ready for the truth? THEY are The Deep State. Kash is not some whistleblower or someone spewing sour grapes, like others who have talked against Trump. He didn't even know Trump when he became involved with the corruption of the Deep State and how it had infiltrated our government offices.
Especially, the military. That is a scary thing. Elitists controlling our military complex. And they aren't voted in. They just bribe and coerce people to keep them in line.
This book is well-written, easy to understand, and comes with lots of proof of what he claims. Kash did an outstanding job getting the details while being stone-walled by the people who fear the truth being told to the American people.
If you want to know what really happened with Russia Gate, and the days prior to and of the January 6th protest, you need to read this book. Otherwise, stay blind to who is really in control of your lives and our great country. Let yourselves become enslaved to their petty whims and stay in constant fear of each other.

Overall a very good book with interesting information.
Several pages had some information redacted, which seems weird. Was the author trying to get creative, like the text was some sort of classified information? It’s a book, not a secret memo from the FBI.
Some typos, like when the Mayor of Washington DC is referred to by the wrong name one sentence after addressing her correctly.
Also, on page 171, the author suggests having enlisted military personnel be in the approval process for military officer promotion. I spent almost a decade in the military, and can say that this is one of the dumbest things that I have ever heard.

It explains the behind the scenes of what took place before and during President Trump's first term. It also explains what we are still seeing in 2025. I didn't understand what was really meant by what (who) is called the Deep State and the cabal. Now I know and it filled in a lot of information needed to put what I was seeing together.
Like Kash I have unwavering ethics and morals and personally understand the backlash from not turning my head the other, unlistening what I heard, unsee what I saw, and follow the direction to sit down at the table and be a good girl.

As anyone following the news is aware, most of Trump's cabinet nominees following his election win are generating a great deal of controversy. Kash Patel, Trump's nominee for FBI Director, is one such nominee. The controversy revolves around the fact that those who oppose his nomination feel that Patel is insufficiently experienced, too blindly loyal to Trump, too likely to politicize the FBI to target Trump's political opponents unfairly, and too bought into QAnon.
To better assess the controversy, I decided that a good starting point would be to hear what Patel has to say for himself in his book "Government Gangsters."
Overview of Contents
"Government Gangsters" is, essentially, Patel's memoirs of his experience working with the Trump administration, beginning with the Russiagate investigations through to his appointment to the board of Trump's Truth Social media company.
Patel begins by briefly describing his modest origins in Queens and Long Island, New York, his decision to become a lawyer, and his early work as a public defender in Florida, defending those accused in the most unsavory cases that others did not want to touch. The story quickly moves on to his early days working for the National Security Division of the Department of Justice circa 2014 and then to his work on counter-terrorism for the House Intelligence Committee. Patel quickly covers this background since his career only really begins to get remarkable, and his philosophies regarding the deep state only really begin to cement beginning with his work with Devin Nunes, which led to his investigations of corruption in the Russiagate controversy.
During his investigation into Russiagate, Patel concluded that considerable corruption was at play involving the very highest levels of government. Patel considers it to have been the greatest abuse of power in American history.
Patel spends considerable time detailing Russiagate, including the NSA's spying on the Trump campaign and the failure of these investigations to turn up any evidence that Trump had colluded with Russia. Along the way, Patel describes the maleficence of those hellbent on obstructing Trump's agenda nearly everywhere they could and intent on removing him from office or, failing that, at least tarnishing his reputation after he left office.
Patel spells out the primary mechanisms involved:
- Fabrication of evidence to obtain FISA warrants to spy on Trump;
- Wrongly classifying material that worked in favor of showing Trump’s innocence so that it could not be brought to light;
- Selectively leaking material that seemed to work against Trump but not enough so that the public could make up their own mind and instead had to rely on deep state members and left-biased media to guide them to desired anti-Trump conclusions;
- Using the Federal bureaucracy to usurp power that legally belongs to the President, especially as head of the military, to stack the bureaucracy against Trump and to stall the implementation of an agenda the voters had given him a mandate to implement.
The book ends with:
- a discussion of January 6,
- what Patel sees as the way forward to dismantle the deep state,
- an enemies list, and
- a final Appendix containing what Patel considers material key to making his case, such as the Nunes memo.
The Book's Strengths
Patel's book has been judiciously edited and is relatively short, coming in at 8 hours of playing time on Audible. Patel quickly moves through the less interesting early parts of his career to focus on the really interesting stuff: his experiences with and philosophy surrounding the deep state. Here, Patel concisely presents a clear and down-to-earth outline. Contrary to accusations, it is nowhere near QAnon conspiracy thinking. The underlying mechanisms are well spelled out and believable: The Federal bureaucracy is too big; it is firmly ideologically slanted toward the left; the bias manifests itself in day-to-day decisions; the media, which shares the same ideological bias, co-operates and is rarely critical of the deep state while being hyper-critical of Trump.
Not only does Patel describe the abuses that have happened, but he also spells out very specific measures to reform things. An example of this is reform of the FISA court. The FISA court is the one that can grant warrants for the NSA to spy on US citizens. It was not judicious, however, and nearly always granted a warrant. Patel identifies key problems as short one-month appointments of judges with no prior experience, a failure to record proceedings, and the absence of any lawyers present to make the case against the warrant on behalf of those who would be spied on. Another example where Patel proposes sensible reform is moving trials in which there is a strong political component generally out of Washington, DC, where things are extremely biased toward the left.
The Book's Weaknesses
Patel's background is that of a lawyer. As demonstrated by the fact that the book is never critical of Trump, Patel is fiercely loyal to Trump. Patel also made it clear that, at the time of writing, he was looking forward to future work with Trump. Patel's presentation is, thus, very much that of someone who can, effectively, be considered to be one of Trump's many lawyers.
As lawyers do, Patel does not say anything against his effective client. He does not present any evidence that would work against Trump unless it is easy to immediately knock it down and serve as a demonstration of Trump's unfair treatment. There is certainly no nuance presented. For example, although Patel points out that the FISA warrant to spy on Carter Page was ultimately determined to be one that should not have been granted, he does not mention that the same report concluded the underlying motivation was not political. Although many will find this hard to believe, some will think it absurd, the omission does highlight that the book is not striving to be completely objective.
Similarly, although I did not follow the blow-by-blow of politics before 2020 and, thus, cannot spell out exactly where Patel is right and where he is wrong regarding Russiagate, since I have only heard one side of the story. Beginning in 2020, however, I was a full-fledged news/political junkie so feel better qualified to weigh in. Thus, when Patel discussed January 6, I found his attempt to defend the President particularly weak. Yes, Trump ordered work to begin on a transition of power to Biden before January 6. No, that is not inconsistent with Trump not wanting to relinquish office. After all, if he had not ordered a transition to begin, would that not just have tipped his hand before he was ready?
Did Trump's words on January 6 for protesters to make their way "peacefully" to the Capitol prove that that was what he really wanted? Anyone who has ever led people knows that generally telling people something once is not enough. Indeed, many, including myself, could sense before that day that violence was inevitable. The President of the United States and those around him were surely also able to read the situation too. So why not stronger and multiple emphases on multiple occasions that he did not support violence? Why not immediate tweeting and public announcements to stop once rioting had begun? Why a three-hour delay instead?
Conclusion
Patel's book coherently argues that a deep state exists in the United States. Far from being off in QAnon-land, the mechanisms by which it operates now seem established well beyond conspiracy theory. Patel makes many reasonable suggestions about what to do about it.
The book should also dismiss notions that Patel has too little experience to be FBI Director. As for being too blindly loyal to Trump, here the waters are a little murkier. Patel is indeed fiercely loyal to Trump. The real question is, is Patel worse than anyone else seeking appointment and who knows which side the bread is buttered on? The enemies list is concerning, but arguably, it makes the deep state a concrete concept instead of abstract figures lurking in the shadows.
When Patel argues that Trump should have stronger practical domination as executive he is on solid legal ground. A President who has made his agenda clear has been given a mandate by the people. Opposing it, where the President is clearly legally in charge, is opposing the people. Nevertheless, Patel does not address the concern that a right-leaning government will just replace a bureaucracy and justice system stacked in favor of the left with one stacked in favor of the right instead of with a fair one.
Overall, the book is about as objective as you would expect from a lawyer effectively representing Trump. Sometimes it is right, and sometimes it is misleading by omission. This is the main reason I can only give it 2.75/5.0.
Finally, I would have liked to see a deeper discussion of how the deep state's existence is an inevitable consequence of leftist domination of academia in conjunction with long-term leftist strategies of institutional dominance à la Marcuse, Gramsci, and others.

We did not “get here” starting in 2020, or 2016, or 2012, or 2008, or 2004, or 2000, or… you get my point. THIS has been infiltrating and invading our Constitutional Republic for no less than 60 YEARS.
So many complain, “does not matter who I vote for President or which party wins. We just keep getting different flavors of the same stuff as things slowly get worse and worse. Does not matter who gets elected as our Senator or Representative, nothing changes.”
You are not just getting cynical and that is not just your imagination. That, is by design. Further, the problem actually is not because of the President or Congress… well, it *is*, just not in the way most assume.
The problem is far more complex than who sits in the White House or Capitol Building seats. Some may truly mean the things they have promised. Those people just have no idea how Washington DC works… or, more accurately, does not work.
“Government Gangsters” does a stellar job laying out the facts that the real problems are not our Executive Branch nor Legislative Branch and in many ways not our Judicial Branch. The problems, plural, are far deeper.
Every incoming Administration is met with a BUREAUCRATIC ADMINISTRATIVE STATE via unelected agencies who are supported by the Media Complex.
Every 2 yrs every House Representative has to win/lose their seat. Every 2 yrs one third of the Senate will win/lose their seat. Every 4yrs a President will win/lose their Office.
But the Administrative State & their accomplices in the various UNELECTED AGENCIES and MEDIA COHORTS remain basically the same.
No where in the Constitution have these entities been give authority nor power to decide… anything. But, they do. They ignore the sitting President unless he agrees with THEIR agenda. They ignore Congress unless they are pushing THEIR agenda and narrative.
Kash Patel, as one relatively new to this political jungle, learned all this the HARD way. Fortunately for him, and many of those with whom he worked, they had a President who was the consummate outsider as well. Someone who, as a businessman - in construction - had already learned how to effectively maneuver through bureaucratic red tape, slow-walking documents, and otherwise throwing a wrench in the gears of getting a job done on time and under budget. A President who had observed the monster from the outside, taken notes, knew the “players,” and was determined to do in the political world what he had accomplished in the business world: turn failures into wins by effectively using the rules to aid in the objective, never give up, never quit, push forward against every headwind.
Kash Patel describes EXACTLY what kinds of obstacles and road blocks that Administrative State, more commonly called “The Deep State” these days, could and would mount to protect *THEIR* AGENDA AND *THEIR* NARRATIVE.
For me, much of this was not new. I had learned about different aspects of this monster over the years, beginning with the Watergate debacle which caused me to notice that what the Constitution told me to expect from my Government was NOT what I was getting. And Richard Nixon was NOT the main problem. Over the years I have become suspicious he may in fact have mostly gotten in their way more than any other “crime.”
I should note that I did not LIKE Donald Trump. Was aggravated he was running in 2015, horrified he was the only “alternative” to someone I trusted even less, but was won over as I saw he was DOING what he SAID he would do. At least, he was making a greater effort than any I had ever seen. I became amazed as I observed him accomplish many goals despite virtually everyone being against him on every level every day.
“Government Gangsters” is NOT a book about Donald Trump. It IS a documentary tome of that which the DJT Administration and staff fought against AT EVERY TURN.
More importantly, this book EXPOSES the Machiavellian machinations and corruption and alternative agenda that has become “our democracy.”
It will be an eye opener for many about HOW WA DC ACTUALLY RUNS and WHY things never seem to “get better.” You will learn little about Donald Trump. You will learn a LOT about why YOUR LIFE gets worse with every election… and steps that CAN be taken to CHANGE *YOUR* government.
More than just “another four year election” will be required but it CAN be changed so that YOU live a better, freer, more prosperous life… as well as future generations.

Don't believe me, if these 51 former Directors of CIA, NSA, National Security Council and one SITTING Director of CIA, ALL of whom have ACTIVE TOP SECRET/TOP SECRET SCI security clearances didn't know the Biden laptop which the FBI had for a year before they released a signed statement to the public claiming such. Then I ask you, should they EVER have been in those positions? Because the evidence was IN the Govts hands for a year. Don't think anyone looked at it?
