Nick Cater has written a superb book on the flows of power and history that have underwritten our great nation. Putting to rest fallacious legends of Whitlams legacy; the nature of the fair go, and the rise of the intellectual classes.
He clearly dispels the myths and shadows surrounding government funded cultural warriors such as the ABC, the Human Rights Commision and shows how these institutions have used their powers to actively fight against the interests of Australia in service of broader, internationalist goals and aspirations.
If you are a patriotic Australian, and believe that we have been on the wrong track for a while now, then this book will help you to understand why. I fully recommend it as compulsory reading for all Aussies from 15 years up.

Nick Cater's book is not entirely novel - the ideas at its base have been previously put forward by Katharine Betts (The Great Divide) and even Mark Latham (editorialising about the New Class). As a newcomer to the country 20 years ago, and a player in the media he has an outsiders perspective and shines a lot of light on the cultural changes in Australia over the last 40 years.
The enforcement of political correctness is not just a fact but a sickness in our society. I would have liked him to engage the self-appointed enforcers more directly; but perhaps this is a better step in trying to create an understanding of the phenomenon that can be shared across the divide.

My only criticism is that sometimes Nick tip-toes around firmly criticizing the perpetrators, who are after all some of his own. When this happens you have to read between the lines, and if you aren't always in-the-know (myself included), would miss some vital points.
