Joan Jones They fought for the British Empire Joan. These men were let down badly by the British who believed blindly in their superiority. After WW2 all the colonies fought the British and the French for their freedom. So many Indians and Africans fought for us but returned home to slavery. Indigenous Australians the same. So many Indians captured in Singapore died as slave labourers but we never acknowlege them.
