Why is there a Chinese garden in Dunedin? In 1865 the Otago Provincial Government make a formal request for Chinese from Victoria to filled a worker-shortage in Otago. But the Chinese leaders are cagey - they want to avoid the discrimination they'd been subjected to on the Victorian Goldfields.
