Hostel average quality film by the standards of Russian cinema
Hostel average quality film by the standards of Russian cinema. Boring story, unspeakable acting and a dull ending.
The era of the USSR did not find, but the film is clearly idealized.
And in terms of gravity and hopelessness, the film is at the level of the film Babanov or Bykov.
Unfortunately, only the ending is worthy of mentioning, and so it is an ordinary "blackness" not to say otherwise.

In criminal jargon, "Obshchak" is a mutual aid fund among the criminal community. There are two types — in jails and “outside”. Contributions to the general fund a.k.a. obshchak must be voluntary, although in practice this requirement is not always fulfilled.
"Obshchak" is under the control of an authoritative criminal leader who has the trust of “his” criminals. Violations of the rules of collection, storage, and use of the common fund are severely punished. The formation of "obshchak" began before the beginning of the XX century.

It's a derivative from the word “общий”. Meaning: common. This very specific word is defining a common fund for a criminal group or multiple groups, that must deposit their share into it and which can be used to cover their needs.
