What happened to Kakwet?
I felt there was no resolution with that storyline.

I agree, and I hope there's another season to resolve her story. however, I think that it would have been in poor taste to do anything more with the Ka'kwet storyline than what they did because it wouldn't have been historically accurate. I think that it would have downplayed the atrocities of the government against indigenous tribes if Ka'kwet had quickly and easily been released from the 'school.'

I believe they just wanted to show the terrible story of Indians that suffered on that century, it was brutal as history state.

I understand that it would be historically accurate to leave her storyline as it is, but I was left wondering what happened to her parents at the end. Did they stay near the vicinity of the residential school throughout the whole period of time? What did they end up doing and how did they handle the situation? It seemed a little bit confusing and vague to me.

I also wonder this, they had other children. They couldn’t have stayed there the whole time Ka’kwhet was at the school, right?

The resolution isn’t a good one. She would be very likely to survive childhood/adulthood. If she did she would have been broken.
Residential schools were awful places.

I think it ended as it should. The window scene is powerful. The problem is they hinted a continuation. The parents said they would camp nearby and try to get her out and Ann was going to expose the story in a newspaper, giving the school print/freedom of speech subplot more depth. Then nothing happened and everyone forgot between more trivial things.
I guess it was just meant to be followed in a fourth season, like Prissy or Bash/Miss Stacy. Or maybe the hints were meant to soften things just a bit, since the series is much more lighthearted. In any case, it could have been handled better.
