CRITIC REVIEWS FOR AMEND: THE FIGHT FOR AMERICA: SEASON 1
Beneath all that polish is substance. Leon and Green succeed at spotlighting under-praised heroes, while making room for related struggles from feminism to LGBTQ rights to immigration and declining to dumb down the insightful analysis...
One of the main blessings of Smith and Wilmore's approach is their dedication to breaking down dusty declarations in terms that the average person can understand and tossing in their own emotional reaction.
A charismatic Will Smith, a few little known facts, and a particularly uplifting episode give this docuseries about the importance of the 14th Amendment a reason to exist.
While this may be well-known to some, if you are looking for a teaching tool about recent and not-so-recent history, you could do a great deal worse than this.
It's a reminder that securing the protections granted by the 14th Amendment -- like America itself -- remains very much a work in progress.
This is must-see viewing for everyone who believes in the all-encompassing, freedom-guaranteeing powers of the 14th Amendment, everyone who says they believe in the 14th Amendment but carries themselves otherwise, and everyone in between.
There's plenty of dry legalese in Amend, but its essential argument is comprehensible to all.
If you're a teacher, though, you may just want to carve out a week or more for your kids to watch and discuss all six hours. It's that good.
This outstanding limited series is an upbeat, creative, and informative civics lesson about one of the most reinterpreted Constitutional amendments in U.S. history.
A very informative docuseries about a piece of our Constitution that is the most misunderstood and overlooked.

Painfully insightful look into American history. Had to fact-check the whole way through because of how cartoonishly evil some of the events described are! Good way to start a deepdive into American history that we are not taught to think critically about.

I was looking for a documentary on civil rights movement in the US and found this. For me as Japanese, American history was mainly white American history but now I learned more from another point of view, which I was able to relate myself to more than ever. I love America all the more for this documentary.

Amend : A Fight For America. If you havnt watched it, I highly recommend it. Crazy how much we were not taught about Black History in school. Or how many events they portrayed on a different light. If it gives me these emotions, I can only imagine how the Black community must feel. This show really does a great job at taking their time with different events to give a complete understanding of them.

This show is a really well-done look at how the 14th amendment has been key to expanding civil rights in the U.S. to more and more groups.

This program is intended to educate those who have always had doubts about what they've been taught to believe as Truth but actually was a one-sided agenda. It explicitly draws a correlation to what is being deemed as CRT today and is only a drop of sand in a beach of lies that have been perpetutaed in teaching US HISTORY not HIS-STORY.

So much that we should already know. It's not an easy series to watch but so very important because we are still living with the consequences of our racist history.
